Special Vehicles Approval Engineer

Job Purpose:

The person in this role is responsible for the quantitative and qualitative execution of the entire approval process for special vehicles (ambulances, intervention vehicles, etc.), in compliance with national and European legislation. This includes preparing the required technical documentation, liaising with the Romanian Automotive Registry (RAR), and staying up to date with regulations in the field.

Main Responsibilities:

  • • Prepares all technical documentation required for the approval process, including technical drawings, weight calculations, and WLTP parameter calculations (emissions, consumption, etc.);
  • • Uploads and submits approval documents via the RAROM platform, ensuring completeness and accuracy;
  • • Continuously monitors national and European legislation/regulations in the field of automotive homologation, flags relevant changes in a timely manner, and acts promptly to ensure process compliance;
  • • Actively collaborates with relevant departments (e.g., design, production, project management, service, quality) to prepare the necessary documentation for homologation;
  • • Represents the company in dealings with competent authorities – participates in the vehicle presentations to RAR inspectors to obtain homologation approvals;
  • • Maintains effective professional relationships with RAR representatives (Cluj, and when necessary, Bucharest or other divisions nationwide) to streamline homologation processes;
  • • Ensures proper traceability and archiving of homologation documentation for each project;
  • • Contributes to the development of technical solutions that comply with RAR and EU regulations applicable to special vehicles;
  • • Actively participates in company initiatives to improve the homologation process.

Candidate profile

  • • Completed university studies in a technical field (preferably mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, mechatronics, or related areas);
  • • Previous experience in a similar position (homologation, R&D, automotive design, or related activities) is a plus;
  • • Solid knowledge of automotive homologation legislation in Romania and the European Union (EU Directives, Regulations, RAR rules, etc.);
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and create technical drawings and diagrams;
  • Experience with CAD software (Autodesk, SolidWorks, etc.) and/or engineering calculation tools;
  • • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills, particularly in liaising with external authorities;
  • • Good computer literacy (MS Office, Excel, PDF editing tools);
  • English – at least intermediate level (spoken and written);

• Strong focus on results and quality; attention to detail; adherence to standards and regulations; ability to work in a team;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; negotiation ability and tact when handling complex situations;
Passion for the automotive and engineering field.
